Well fall is in the air! The leaves are turning wonderful colors and the warmer jackets are coming out of the closet. Try this great recipe to warm you up:
INGREDIENTS
- 6 cups apple cider
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 whole allspice berries
- 1 orange peel, cut into strips
- 1 lemon peel, cut into strips
DIRECTIONS
- Pour the apple cider and maple syrup into a large stainless steel saucepan.
- Place the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in the center of a washed square of cheesecloth; fold up the sides of the cheesecloth to enclose the bundle, then tie it up with a length of kitchen string. Drop the spice bundle into the cider mixture.
- Place the saucepan over moderate heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cider is very hot but not boiling.
- Remove the cider from the heat. Discard the spice bundle. Ladle the cider into big cups or mugs, adding a fresh cinnamon stick to each serving if desired.

I am on the final 2 days of moving and I am exhausted if I can just get this done I can breath a sigh of relief! I went shopping after work yesterday to Michael's crafts store and got some wonderful decorations for the front of the house on sale. Later this weekend when things calm down I will be sure to post some pictures. I can not even tell you how happy I am this is a long weekend I may get to make my famous chili, It's an all day project but taste's awesome! If you would like the recipe just let me know, I have it saved as a works database file and I cant figure out how to convert it so I can just copy and paste it in Live Writer. This is me and Dave making it last year in our old place while watching the football game. See how small the old kitchen is hardly enough room for 2 people!
