I just goofed! And the Davemeister is home!

Howdy folks,

I just wanted to let everyone know (who does not know already) that Dave is finally home!!! I picked him up Wednesday from the hospital at 11 am. When I got to his floor he was patiently waiting for me since I had his street clothes. So we where already to go and the doctors and nurses would not let us leave right away because they wanted to take a picture of him under their sign with the nurses and doctors posing with him. I told him he is going to be their next poster child. We finally get the heck out of there and we had to stop at the grocery store for some fruits, veggies, and stuff as I have been living on frozen meals as you may already know. We did not do much shopping but it really pooped Dave out; it is one thing doing a few laps around your hospital floor but walking around in hot humidity put a strain on him. Next order of business was to drop off his 13 prescriptions, yes that is right I said 13 the grand total to fill them all was $165 luckily he has insurance. I had to go back to work after I got him settled into the house. When I got home we had our first cook out of the summer, steaks on the grill and baked potato's. Believe me he was real excited for real food after the mush he has been fed. It will take time to get his strength back you would be surprised what you take for granted when you are healthy. We have to be careful not to be near anyone who is sick if he where to get the swine flu he could die as his immune system is weakened. They would not even give him the flu shot at least not yet. So it may be a bit of a while to he is up to full strength but we can only thank the Good Lord he made it out alive! And I told him how all of you prayed for him and I showed him the emails and comments everyone made, he was really touched so Thank you all again!

Now on to my air head move I just made, I usually read all my blogs in google reader and I know I am way behind....well I just accidentally marked them all as read...Grrrr. I was planning on catching up this weekend while I sit on the couch next to Dave while he watches his Nascar. I am sorry if I have missed your posts :(

I hope everyone has a great weekend, this is like the first real summer weekend for me. Yippee no more hospital rooms!!!!!

Have to post something funny or my head may just explode

silence_i_kill_you_

Hi Everyone,

I know I have not posted for a while, I was so happy today as my Dave was SUPPOSE to be home tomorrow.  But as usual the rotten place he is at are now saying Wednesday.  Today he was scheduled to have the tube taken out of his belly at 11 a.m., he called me at noon as of yet they still not taken him to do it.  He is starving as he could not eat since dinner last night which was crap so all he ate was the soup.  He now missed breakfast, and now lunch and  I do not even know if he will be done with the (minor)  surgery so he can have dinner.  Now the new excuse also is the lady who does the papers so he can go home and set up the visiting nurse is out today so there is no one else to do the paperwork.  This place is such a joke, we know they are doing every thing they can to keep him for the insurance money.  Doing tests on him he does not need, all his tests vitals have been fine for 2 weeks.  The doctor ordered a heart test on him Friday because his heart beat was a little high…and as we knew his results where normal….they already did this when he was in ICU his heart is fine.  I am just blowing off steam as I am majorly pissed, he should of been out of there last Friday.  There will be complaints filed against this joke of a Rehab place (note he did all his own Rehab getting his strength and mobility back, they worked with him 2 days and he has been there 14 days today!)  Alright I am going to calm done and just be thankful he is healed and better and pray for patience for a Wednesday release.

I want to let everyone who has made comments on my blog recently I really appreciate it, I have thanked you all before but I really mean it.  I will hopefully get back to normal soon and catch up on every ones blogs and do my Friday shootouts again.

Here is the funny because Lord knows I need it today and maybe you do to:

Lazy Sunday Morning……..

Lets start off with a funny kitty picture, I have a lazy kitty sleeping next to me on the couch.

funny-pictures-kitten-read-your-journal

Well This is the first morning I can remember being able to sleep in, that is if you consider 9:45 sleeping in.  It really stinks getting older I used to be able to sleep to noon with no problem no for some stupid reason I am awake at least by 8 a.m. no matter if I go to bed early or late it is messed up I tell ya.

As I predicted we went from bizarre  tropical rain forest/spring weather right to Africa hot/humid weather over the last 3 days (yes our ozone layer is screwed we had our first 85 degrees a few days ago and its the end of July).  I do not envy anyone of my friends who live in those hotter climates even if it is the so called “Dry Heat”, hot is hot.  I can do the most up to 82 with no humidity anything after that its stay in the house with the AC cranked.

Yesterday I had a good visit with Davey I stayed about 6 hours, we got a movie we started to watch on his lap top but then he started to fall asleep so we will finish it today.  He is getting stronger everyday, walking around fine…still has to fine tune a few skills like writing legible and typing as his hands are still a bit shaky.   Tomorrow is the big day they will do a swallow test and if it goes into his stomach instead of lungs they remove the plugged up trachea all together and food iv and back to eating normally.  Then he could actually be home in a week or so! Of course he will still need time to recuperate and would not be able to go back to work for a while. I will be visiting today of course but I am still in lazy mode so I will go in a few  hours.

I really want to go see the new Harry Potter movie I will just have to be patient.  I hope everyone had a fun weekend.  I am attaching pictures below of just some odds and ends I have taken over the last month.  Happy Sunday!

42. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you 'squeeze' for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie.
They are:
Monday = Blue
Tuesday = Green
Thursday = Red
Friday = White
Saturday = Yellow.
So if today was Thursday, you would want a red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors.. You learn something new everyday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

Don't forget
Gatorade for Migraine Headaches. PowerAde won't work.
Pass this information on to friends so they can be informed

It's been a week since my last post...

Hi everyone,

I just realized I have not done an entry in a week. Well what a difference a week makes, Dave is leaving intensive care today and going to another hospital for rehabilitation. They have to get him off the trache tube then back to eating regular food, walking and all that other stuff you take for granted. In the last week he has done so well all his Iv's are off, has been sitting up in the recliner the last 3 or four days. Each day I ask him to show me how much he can move his arms and legs and it gets better every time. It could still be weeks before he can even come home and hopefully all keeps going well. One of the nurses told me she bets he will surprise everyone and maybe be out in 2 weeks or so, I sure hope so. I will take his improvements as it comes though.

Now I have to travel 3.6 miles in the other direction from work to a different hospital but it wont be bad because there is a grocery store on the way home from there. I have not done grocery shoping since he has been sick so 25 days, my cat is ready to go on strike she hates cheap wet kitty food I get from the convenient store and last night I ran out of her favorite kitty treats. I have to stop at the store tonight or she may get her revenge on me some how!

I hope everyone is having a good summer I just want my life to get back to normal so I can enjoy it with Dave. Keep those prayers coming they seem to be working :)

Monday

Hi Everyone,

Well it's back to work. Thanks for all the kind comments again. As I have all ready told a few people via email Dave basically slept all weekend while I visited. Since it was a holiday there were really no Doctors at the hospital at least to be seen. He looks better, but since I cant talk to him I do not know how he feels inside(like if he is still in pain).

Yesterday (Sunday) I only stayed 2 1/2 hours as the nurse wanted to change him said it would take half an hour it was already 6 pm so I was like that's ok I am going to go home. I stopped and got a salad and chicken for dinner at a sub shop came home and ate and fell asleep probably around 7 p.m., I woke up on the couch around 10 and stumbled to my bed. How come when you sleep a lot you feel so tired the next day? I managed to sunburn part of myself yesterday as it was finally beautiful out; my legs, arms and face are fine due to a base tan but I forgot to put sunblock on chest and back and it is a lovely shade of lobster red.

My Friend Lori gave me this award (Thank you), What I must do now is write a list of 10 honest things about myself to share and then pass it on to 7 other people. Here ya GO PEEPS more than you may wish to know about me: (Listen my brain is not fully working functionally, I think a lot of people I know already have this award) if you do not have it and I read your blog please take it as I want you to have it.

Ten honest things about me:
1. I shave my legs as little as possible in the winter as it's such a pain.
2. After I cuss someone while driving like an ass I ask God for forgivness for losing my temper.
3. I have very few close friends in person (Dave being my best friend of course) , and the one's I do I would do anything for. It is not that I am not likable or social I am when it is required, I am just more a private person and would happy just to hang out with Dave and my cat.
4. I would love to live in a log cabin in the woods far away from everyone (but there would have to be internet and cable of course or I would lose my mind (oh and at least a Walmart, grocery store and CVS within 30 miles).
5. I hate talking on the phone, no I despise it. Send me and email instead (at least I can check that on my phone).
6. The closest I ever came to death was drowning in Mexico I got caught in a rip tide and panicked, thankfully some guy came to my rescue.
7. I cry when I see animals dead on the road.
8. I do not use credit cards if I can not afford to buy it in cash I do not buy it, this is due to the fact that I learned the hard way many many years ago how much trouble you can get into with them.
9. I lived with an abusive man for almost 10 years, years later after I finally left him he got hit and killed by a commuter train (karma??).
10. I hate liars and thieves I always try to be truthful and never steal.

Where there is love and prayers there is hope.....finally!

Hi Everyone,
It is 12:14 Friday night and I cant seem to fall asleep even though I am very tired. Dave is doing better! They told me today things are looking good and he is coming along and may possibly be out of intensive care within a week or so and then to Rehab. Wednesday was a bad day when he had surgery for the trache and stomach tube it was like he took a turn for the worst but he is a fighter and they are giving me such good hope. I visited today for 7 hours he slept most of them but would wake up every now and then and I am pretty sure he knew it was me. They have decreased his sedation and pain med in half since yesterday and he was resting comfortably today. Two doctors talked to me today after my the stink I raised the other day about not being updated by his doctors. His dad was there when I got there and I saw the concern and love in his eyes, Dave woke up and his dad held his hand and told him how much he love them and everything was good between them and he just wants him to get better. Dave smiled and a tear escaped his eye. They tell me when he the different sedatives and pain med are wearing off he can have scary hallucinations but it will pass. I am hopeful but still scared....I feel like I am afraid to be happy in case something goes wrong. I just have to keep the faith and praying. I can not tell everyone enough how much all your prayers and comments/emails have meant to me, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. He had a cat scan today and it looked good lets just hope his body can recover and he has not other damage internally. I am so tired but wound up with what energy I do not know I guess its just nerves. Please keep praying and I hope to have even better news soon.

I hope everyone has a nice 4th of July

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. I will not be celebrating it this year as I do not think I can watch fireworks in a hospital room. Yesterday Dave had a trache tube put in his throat and a tube thing in his stomach hopefully they can get nutrition into his lower bowels. Sorry if this sounds gross. Anyhow I just want everyone to be safe and happy this weekend I hope you get to spend it with your love ones and really appreciate the time you have together.
