It’s Earth Day…Hug a tree, or Hug me :), and other stuff….

Hi

Folks Well it is a beautiful day here for Earth day. Sunny and around 60, but we have some more April showers on the way. Here is a cute Earth day craft I found and thought I would share:

Recycle a milk jug and make new feathered friends with this creative nature craft for kids.

350x250birdfeeder5_rdax_65

What you'll need:
  • Empty quart sized cardboard milk carton
  • Scissors
  • String or cord
  • Hole punch or pencil
  • Bird seed
How to make it:
  1. Have an adult help you cut a hole in the bird feeder – it should be big enough so a bird could come and sit and eat the feed, but not too big or the carton will become unstable. (See photo.)
  2. Have an adult help you cut a hole using the hole punch in the top of the milk carton and put a string through the hole. Alternatively, you can poke a hole on either side of the flap at the top of the carton by poking a pencil through the top. (See photo.)
  3. Tie a knot in the string. (See photo.)
  4. Fill the carton with bird seed until it reaches the top of the hole. (See photo.)
  5. Hang the cart on a tree branch and watch the birds enjoy their snack! (See photo.)
Tips:
  • A quart size carton works perfect as it isn't too large and holds a decent amount of food.
  • You may choose to decorate the outside of the carton but keep in mind that it will be outside in the elements and decorations may wash off in the rain. Also, you wouldn't want the birds pecking at flaking paint!
  • Check your bird feeder regularly and refill as needed.

Listen I have finally realized I am an old out of shape fart and let me tell you why; Last Saturday I decided to plants bulbs and seeds all over the front yard. I planted Lilies, daisies, sun flowers, wild flowers, fox gloves, and a whole bunch more I can not even remember. This little adventure took at least 3 hours, I was so proud of myself all covered in dirt and sweaty. I was already planning on what I was going to do the next day in the back yard……

Then about an hour later the pain started between the pain in my knee’s, back, leg, arms and shoulders I was pretty much laid up both Sunday and Monday on my nice 3 day weekend. Let me tell you I even think my hair hurt! I do not want sympathy but just felt like complaining….lol

Time to get these old bones back on that exercise bike and start using my expensive home gym that makes a nice clothes hanger. How many of you out there have spent stupid money on any type of exercise equipment you swore you would use, and you did…..for your laundry??

The tree’s are starting to POP we have the dogwoods and cherry blossom’s finally blooming, I can not wait to the Lilac bush pops in my back yard right next to my deck it is one of my favorite flowers.

Coyote on Easter…and just some catching up on my Blog.

funny-pictures-your-cat-is-angry-you-are-unemployed

Hi Folks,

I hope everyone is doing well. It is Friday at work and I have 3 hours and 35 more hours before I am free for a well deserved long weekend. It’s a holiday here in MA but not in the rest of the country I guess, they call it Patriot’s day and the Boston Marathon will also be on Monday. I do not care what they call it I am just glad I do not have to come to work.

Let me tell you about my Easter I was having a perfectly nice day I stayed home while Dave went to visit his family (just was not up to going this year, but that is another issue I will not get into). Any how I decided since it was so beautiful out I would do laundry, do my floors and general cleaning and sit out on the deck to enjoy the day. So I am sitting on the deck taking a break and I look in the yard and I see this dog, so I thought it was a dog boy was I wrong! I went down to the yard to get a better look since I did not have my glasses on….and then I almost crapped my pants it was a Coyote! The poor thing was hurt I think he must of got hit by a car be cause he was falling over while he was running away from me. He went next door and the neighbors Duck was out (he is a huge duck as big as a swan and he runs around the yard). I started yelling for the guy to come get his duck because I was not sure what would happen. The Coyote just went down and layed down under some brush next to his fence. We went over and I looked into his eyes, I could tell he was not rabid just hurt, I was just about crying. I called the Animal rescue league and they said they could not help since he was a wild animal and told me to call the police. The police came and they looked at him (he had since moved to my back yard behind the tree’s). The mean cop said oh we cant help him but I could shoot him if he is rabid, then his dumb cop buddies pulled up and they were laughing saying oh gee thought I would get to take the shot gun out! They said they would watch for him so if he crossed the street he would not get hit…..I was ya right you jerk’s will probably try to hit him yourself. I know coyote’s are dangerous in neighborhoods but because of the new train that was put in I think of the wild life in my neighborhood lost there homes. I was able to get close to him to get some pictures check it out he is beautiful. I was sad for the rest of the day, he was gone the next day.

I have been seeing quite a bit of wild animals lately I mentioned last week we have the ground hog at work out back and yesterday I was sitting out on the bench at work and a wild turkey was running around. Here are the pictures of the ground hog.

Dave went to Texas on business Monday through Wednesday he liked it and brought me back this nice pink T-shirt that says Dallas on it. The man travels so much I have souvenirs from everywhere! While he was gone my birdbath/solar light was delivered from LTD Commodities. Two hours later I had it put together the directions where backwards and after much cursing and undoing screws and redoing them I got it together here it is along with some pictures of my new flag, wind chimes, solar lights, flowers, fishes, and the beach theme craft I put on the back of my toilet bowl. Note these may be out of order.

Itza Friday.........

Please remember bunnies are full time pets and should not be given as Easter gifts to children who can not take care of them properly, this is how they end up abandoned.

Well it's Friday and it is dragging by so slow. I feel out of sorts today....just Blah for no reason in particular. I figured I would post some funny picture's to cheer myself up and maybe give everyone a laugh. It is so beautiful out right now sunny and 61 degree's but of course the cold and rain (possible snow)is on it's way for tonight & tomorrow.

I hope everybody has nice Easter, just think the next holiday will be Memorial day Woo HOO! I need to do my floors this weekend and this is how I will look when I am done:

I brought my camera to work today because we have a ground hog that lives out there in a tree stump and he has been there for years, well any how he has been out everyday when I sit out on the bench and I watch him. I cant wait to get home and upload his pictures. Well I am in a zombie mood so I do not know what else to write but just wanted to wish you all a nice holiday :)
Here is one more LOL, this one almost made me pee my pants.

It's Opening day......a day late & spring talk

OPENING DAY!

It's a day late due to being rained out yesterday but today is opening day in Boston, Go Sox! Do you know what that means spring really is coming! I have been hearing some weather reports from friends across the different states that they have gotten snow over the last few days.....Enough I think we are all ready for spring.

I started some flowers and veggies in a peat pellet starter green house this weekend. I also have some Tulips coming up inside the house! It was actually a Christmas present after they bloom I will transplant the bulbs outside. The herbs I planted are doing well also.

I do not have kids as most of you know but the one thing I miss about Easter is doing Easter eggs. Me and my sister would color eggs when we where kids and have a great time finding them Easter morning, knocking each other over in the process. I remember one year we could not find an egg until a while later....we smelled it...ewww.

Then it was always fun getting dressed up in our Easter outfits I remember bright black patent leather shoes, white gloves, and little square shaped pocket books. Growing up in the Seventies....I groan at some of those picture's here are few of us...what groovy clothes it's ok to laugh!

Oh look we are in our groovy ponchos!

I am in the background and my little sister is in front, nice coat I think it was burnt orange (gag)

Well as you can tell it's been a lame week as I do not have to much to post about I am getting cabin fever I just want the good weather to get outside and go camping, have cookouts, take boat rides.......Soon

Is the joke on you?

Happy April Fool's day! My day has been surprisingly uneventful no jokes pulled on me yet....Boring! How about this big worm that is suppose to be infecting the Internet kind of reminds me of the doom and gloom they predicted for the year 2K. Has anybody had a joke pulled on them today, I would love to know.

Not much new here just another work week, Dave is traveling again but will be home Friday :) I do have to say I just love, love, love my new Direct TV the picture is crystal clear even on the non HD channels and there are tons of new stations. One other thing I like channel 5 is channel 5 the same for all the other local channels they do not give them crazy numbers like Comcast did. The Comcast guy and the Direct TV guy's all showed up at the same time last Saturday I was predicting a fist fight on my lawn or something like the Cable guy/Fios guy commercial....but there was no drama what so ever.

I am at work so I can not post the picture's of the new wind chimes I got they are sweet, when I sit out on my porch I am serenaded by various sounding wind chimes. Well it's been a pretty boring week so I do not have much to write about but hope you all are well.
